Memo sized notebooks are 3.5 x 5.5 inches (89 x 150 mm) and are mostly related to the Field Notes brand size of pocket journals. They are half an inch taller than a B7 (passport size) notebook.
What do all these letters and numbers mean? Notebook sizes typically fall into two global systems: the ISO 216 A-series (A4, A5, A6, A10, etc) and the Japanese JIS B-series (B6, B7, B4, etc). There are some outliers such as traveler's size, passport, and pocket. Plus some makers simply create their own size based on their country's standard or available materials/printing process.
We have categorized our journals and notebooks into standard sizes, when possible, but it is important to know that there are slight differences in "standard" sizing, based on materials, style, and the country where the item is produced.
